Guru/Birmingham/Gas Street Basin and the canals

Gas Street Basin and the canals

Narrowboats, towpaths and waterside bars where the canal network meets the city.

Gas Street Basin is where the Worcester and Birmingham Canal meets the main line, with moored narrowboats, a pub in an old toll house and Brindleyplace's bars around the water. Walk the towpath west to the Roundhouse or east under the city. Free, and at its best on a warm evening.

When it works

Outdoors: pick a dry day. Best morning, afternoon, evening.

Good for a date, a first visit, sunset, dogs and step-free visits.
