The Real Mary King’s Close
A guided tour through the seventeenth-century streets buried under the City Chambers.
When the City Chambers were built in the 1750s the closes beneath were sealed rather than demolished, and the tour walks you through them with a costumed guide. It is underground, so weather is irrelevant, and the plague stories are pitched well for older children. Tours run all day and sell out; book ahead.
When it works
Indoors, so the weather does not matter. Best morning, afternoon, evening.
Good for kids, groups, a date and a first visit.
