Manchester Museum
Dinosaurs, Egyptian mummies and a vivarium of live frogs, free, on the university campus.
Reopened in 2023 after a big rebuild, the museum has a T. rex, a South Asia gallery and the famous vivarium full of poison-dart frogs. It is free and made for families, and the layout is easy for a couple of hours. The Whitworth is a ten-minute walk further down Oxford Road.
When it works
Indoors, so the weather does not matter. Best morning, afternoon.
Good for kids and step-free visits.
