Barley Hall
A medieval townhouse hidden down a snickelway, restored to 1483 and open to touch.
Found behind a shop and rebuilt as it was when the Lord Mayor lived there, Barley Hall is a hands-on medieval house where you can sit at the great hall table and try on the clothes. It is cheap, indoors and small, and children who found the Minster too big like it. Combined tickets with Jorvik are available.
When it works
Indoors, so the weather does not matter. Best morning, afternoon.
Good for kids and going solo.
