The gallery's Centre of Ceramic Art holds the national collection of British studio pottery, and the painting galleries run from Italian altarpieces to Lowry and the Bloomsbury set. Free to enter, with ticketed exhibitions, and right beside the Museum Gardens and the Minster. An unhurried hour on a wet afternoon.
