Guru/Bath/The Holburne Museum

The Holburne Museum

Gainsborough and Georgian silver in a grand villa at the end of Great Pulteney Street, with a garden café.

The Holburne closes the vista of Bath's grandest street and holds one man's collection of paintings, silver and porcelain, with Gainsborough's portraits the highlight and good touring shows in the glass extension. The garden café at the back opens onto Sydney Gardens. Ticketed and indoors; a fine wet-afternoon hour.

When it works

Indoors, so the weather does not matter. Best morning, afternoon.

Good for a date, going solo and step-free visits.
