Guru/Birmingham/Balti Triangle

Balti Triangle

The birthplace of the balti, a mile south of the centre, with dinner served in the pan.

The balti was invented on Ladypool Road in the 1970s and the restaurants there still serve it in the thin steel dish it was cooked in, with a naan bigger than the table. Most are unlicensed, so bring your own. It is a bus ride or a twenty-five-minute walk from the centre and best in the evening.

When it works

Indoors, so the weather does not matter. Best evening, night.

Good for groups, locals' favourite and a first visit.
