Guru/Leeds/Hyde Park Picture House

Hyde Park Picture House

A gas-lit Edwardian cinema showing independent and classic films, restored and reopened.

The Picture House opened in 1914 and still has its gas lamps, reopened in 2023 after a long restoration that added a second screen. It shows new independent releases, classics and family films, and it is one of the most loved buildings in the city. Cheap tickets, a small bar and a bus ride from the centre.

When it works

Indoors, so the weather does not matter. Best afternoon, evening.

Good for a date, going solo and locals' favourite.
