Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills
Once the biggest woollen mill in the world, now a museum of textiles, printing and a tiny cinema.
Armley Mills sits on an island in the Aire and tells the story of the industries that built Leeds: cloth, engineering, printing and film, with working machinery on demonstration days and a 1920s cinema in miniature. It is cheap, indoors and rarely busy. A canal walk links it to Kirkstall Abbey.
When it works
Indoors, so the weather does not matter. Best morning, afternoon.
Good for kids and going solo.
