Guru/Leeds/Leeds Art Gallery and the Henry Moore Institute

Leeds Art Gallery and the Henry Moore Institute

A strong twentieth-century British collection and a sculpture institute next door, both free.

The gallery's Victorian tiled hall café is worth a visit alone; upstairs are Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, Francis Bacon and a good run of twentieth-century painting. The Henry Moore Institute through the door shows contemporary sculpture. Free, central and a natural first stop on a wet morning.

When it works

Indoors, so the weather does not matter. Best morning, afternoon.

Good for a date, going solo and step-free visits.
