Guru/London/London Museum Docklands

London Museum Docklands

The story of the river and the port, in a Georgian sugar warehouse on West India Quay.

Sailortown, a recreated Victorian dockside street, is the part children remember; the galleries on the slave trade and the wartime docks are the ones adults do. It is free, rarely crowded and right beside the DLR, which makes it a sensible wet-weather pairing with the river bus.

When it works

Indoors, so the weather does not matter. Best morning, afternoon.

Good for kids, going solo and step-free visits.
