Tower Bridge
Walk the glass floor forty metres above the river, then see the Victorian engine rooms.
Crossing the bridge is free and worth doing at night when it is lit. The paid exhibition takes you up the towers, across the glass-floored walkways and down to the steam engines that once lifted the bascules. Check the lift times online if you want to see the bridge open; it happens most days.
When it works
Mostly under cover, so light rain is fine. Best morning, afternoon, evening, night. Free to cross; exhibition ticketed.
Good for kids, a first visit and a date.
