Greenwich Park and the Meridian

A royal park with the best view in south London, the Observatory and the Cutty Sark below.

Take the river boat out for the approach, then climb through the park to the Observatory for the view back over Canary Wharf. The park, the Painted Hall precinct and the market are free; the Observatory and the Cutty Sark are ticketed. On a fine Saturday it is one of the best half-days in London.

When it works

Outdoors: pick a dry day. Best morning, afternoon. Park free; Observatory and Cutty Sark ticketed.

Good for kids, a first visit, a date and dogs.
