South Bank walk
The riverside from Westminster Bridge to Tower Bridge, with the skyline the whole way.
Start at the London Eye and walk east: the National Theatre, the book stalls under Waterloo Bridge, Tate Modern, Borough Market and finally Tower Bridge. It is the best free introduction to the city and it is just as good after dark, when the bridges and the City are lit. Allow ninety minutes without stops, or all afternoon with them.
