Guru/London/Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey

Coronation church of English monarchs since 1066, with Poets’ Corner and the royal tombs.

The abbey is where the country's history is buried, from Elizabeth I to Newton to Darwin. Entry is pricey and it is a working church, so it closes for services; the audio guide is included and worth using. Book a timed ticket and go early to have the nave to yourself for a few minutes.

When it works

Indoors, so the weather does not matter. Best morning, afternoon.

Good for a first visit and groups.
