Peak District from Edale

An hour by train to the start of the Pennine Way and the climb up Kinder Scout.

The Hope Valley line puts you in Edale in about fifty minutes from Piccadilly, and from the station you can be on the moor within half an hour. Kinder Scout is a proper hill day; the walk to Mam Tor and Castleton is gentler. Only worth it in decent weather, and a full day either way.

Outdoors: pick a dry day. Best morning. Free; train fare.

Good for dogs, groups and locals' favourite.
