Guru/Bath/Dyrham Park

Dyrham Park

A baroque house in a deer park on the edge of the Cotswolds, twenty minutes north of the city.

Dyrham is a National Trust house of Dutch paintings and Delftware in a bowl of parkland with a herd of fallow deer, and the view from the top of the park stretches to Wales. The house is ticketed with the park, and the walk down to it through the deer is the best part. A car or the bus to the gate; a fine-weather half-day.

When it works

Partly outdoors: better on a dry day, with shelter if it turns. Best morning, afternoon.

Good for kids, dogs and a date.
