A Jacobean mansion beside Villa Park, with a long gallery and a cannonball scar from the Civil War.
One of the last great Jacobean houses, with a staircase still damaged by a Parliamentary cannonball and a long gallery that runs the length of the house. It is free but opens on limited days and hours, so check first. The park outside is free all year.

Partly outdoors: better on a dry day, with shelter if it turns. Best afternoon. Free; limited opening days.
Good for going solo and kids.
