Underfall Yard
The Victorian machinery that keeps the harbour afloat, with a free visitor centre and a café.
At the western end of the harbour, Underfall Yard is still a working boatyard, with the original hydraulic engine house and sluices open to visit. It is free, small and a favourite with children who like machines. The café on the slipway is a local secret.
When it works
Mostly under cover, so light rain is fine. Best morning, afternoon.
Good for kids, going solo and locals' favourite.
