Glasgow Green
The oldest park in the city, along the Clyde, with the Doulton Fountain and the Templeton carpet factory.
Glasgow Green has been common land since the fifteenth century and holds the largest terracotta fountain in the world, the McLennan Arch and the extraordinary Templeton building, a carpet factory dressed as the Doge's Palace. It is a flat riverside walk from the centre and the site of the city's big outdoor events. Free.
