The Barras
The city’s weekend flea market, part indoor, part street, with the Barrowland Ballroom above it.
The Barras has run on Saturdays and Sundays for a century: stalls of everything from vintage to tools, covered market halls, street food and the wonderful neon of the Barrowland Ballroom over the gate. It is scruffy, funny and a real piece of the city. Come mid-morning; much of it is under cover.
When it works
Mostly under cover, so light rain is fine. Best morning, afternoon.
Good for locals' favourite, groups and going solo.
