Guru/Liverpool/Sefton Park and the Palm House

Sefton Park and the Palm House

Two hundred acres of Victorian park with a lake, a grotto and a glass palm house, free.

Sefton Park is the city's Sunday: the boating lake, the fairy glen, the bandstand and the Palm House, a three-tier Victorian glasshouse that is free to enter and hosts markets and gigs. Lark Lane on the edge of the park has the cafés and pubs. A fine-weather choice with the Palm House as a bolt-hole if it turns.

When it works

Outdoors: pick a dry day. Best morning, afternoon.

Good for kids, dogs, a date and locals' favourite.
