St George's Hall
A neoclassical hall opposite Lime Street with a Minton tiled floor and Victorian courtrooms.
One of the finest neoclassical buildings in Europe, built as a concert hall and law courts, with a great hall floored in thirty thousand Minton tiles that is uncovered only on special weeks. The heritage centre and the cells are open most days for a small charge, and there are tours. Free to admire from the plateau outside, which is where the city gathers for everything.
When it works
Indoors, so the weather does not matter. Best morning, afternoon.
Good for going solo, a first visit and step-free visits.
