York ghost walk
The most haunted city in England does its ghost stories every night, by lantern, from the Shambles.
Several companies run walks every evening year-round, most leaving from the Shambles or King's Staith around dusk for about an hour and a quarter of Roman legions in cellars, plague children and the Grey Lady of the Theatre Royal. They are cheap, funny, good with older children and the right way to see the old streets after dark. Dress warmly.
