JORVIK Viking Centre
A ride through a recreated Viking street, smells included, on the site where it was dug up.
Built over the Coppergate dig that found Viking York, Jorvik takes you in a slow-moving car through the reconstructed streets of 975 with sounds, smells and animatronic townsfolk, then into galleries of the real finds. It is ticketed, indoors and made for children, and the queue is famous; book a timed slot.
When it works
Indoors, so the weather does not matter. Best morning, afternoon.
Good for kids, a first visit and groups.
