Guru/Bath/American Museum and Gardens

American Museum and Gardens

Period American rooms, a quilt collection and gardens with a valley view, in a manor above the city.

The only museum of American decorative arts outside the US, with rooms moved wholesale from New England and the South, a famous quilt collection and a replica of Mount Vernon's garden. The grounds look down the Limpley Stoke valley. Ticketed, a bus ride out of town, and a mixed indoor-outdoor half-day with a good café.

When it works

Partly outdoors: better on a dry day, with shelter if it turns. Best morning, afternoon.

Good for kids, a date and groups.
