A cobbled lane of fairy lights, pubs, restaurants and a cinema behind Byres Road.
Ashton Lane is a hundred yards of bars, the Ubiquitous Chip and its rooftop terrace, a small cinema and outdoor tables under strings of lights, with Byres Road's shops and cafés at one end. It is the West End's evening in a single lane and it works in rain, because everything opens onto it. Busy every night from Thursday.

Mostly under cover, so light rain is fine. Best afternoon, evening, night.
Good for a date, groups, a first visit and locals' favourite.
