Guru/Glasgow/The Hunterian and the Mackintosh House

The Hunterian and the Mackintosh House

Scotland’s oldest public museum, with Roman finds, Whistler and Mackintosh’s reassembled home.

The Hunterian holds the Antonine Wall stones, a strong natural history collection and, in the gallery across the road, the biggest Whistler holding outside the US. The Mackintosh House is his own home rebuilt room for room and is ticketed cheaply; the rest is free. Inside the university, so combine with the cloisters.

When it works

Indoors, so the weather does not matter. Best morning, afternoon. Free; Mackintosh House cheap.

Good for going solo, a date and step-free visits.
