Guru/Glasgow/Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

Dali, a Spitfire, dinosaurs and a daily organ recital in a red sandstone palace, free.

Kelvingrove is the most visited free museum in Scotland and it is easy to see why: twenty-two galleries that jump from Dali's Christ of St John of the Cross to a hanging Spitfire, Egyptian mummies, the Glasgow Boys and the floating heads. The organ recital at lunchtime every day is the moment to be in the main hall. Allow half a day; it is beside Kelvingrove Park.

When it works

Indoors, so the weather does not matter. Best morning, afternoon.

Good for kids, a first visit, a date and step-free visits.
