Guru/Glasgow/Finnieston

Finnieston

The strip of Argyle Street that became the city’s restaurant quarter, with the crane at the end.

A decade ago Finnieston was a shortcut to the Hydro; now it is where Glasgow eats and drinks, with seafood, a Michelin-recognised bar, natural wine, Indian and Vietnamese within a few blocks. The Finnieston Crane stands over the river at the bottom. Book for weekend dinner; walk in for lunch or an early drink.

When it works

Partly outdoors: better on a dry day, with shelter if it turns. Best afternoon, evening, night.

Good for a date, groups and locals' favourite.
